Tom Corless’ 9/24-10/1/08 WDW Update
As promised, here is a photo report from my latest trip to Walt Disney World during WDWCelebrations World Wide Weekend event. I only get to do one of these every few months, so please forgive me if my photos aren’t as good as you are used to seeing:
The Braille map at Pleasure Island was updated to reflect the closing of the 6 remaining clubs almost instantly
Pretty empty at the time being
T-Rex Cafe is being considered Pleasure Island property just to pad the line-up, even though it does not open until October 14.
This former club sign was also switched over to advertising for the Festival of the Masters
Work inside of Motion has begun so quickly that they haven’t even gotten walls up yet
All signage gone from 8-trax
The Adventurer’s Club is dead for now, but they are booking special events for the venue up until Super Bowl Sunday 2009
The BET in BET Soundstage Club was gone almost as soon as the patrons were
Even the Laffer’s Cantina is getting a new looking menu to shed the old PI vibes
Sorry, no more tickets…
The T-Rex Cafe is almost ready for its debut in less than two weeks
Here is the sign being worked on a few days earlier
Work on the new stage for the Marketplace is in full swing now
Disney Design-a-Tee is opening next to the Art of Disney on November 15th
Moving over to the Magic Kingdom, Haunted Mansion had an eerie wait time
Mickey’s Philharmagic continues to get an influx of new merchandise
Here is one of the bobbleheads in the new “Magic Kingdom 1971 Collection” of merchandise
All of the merchandise features this logo
Some more new merchandise
More of these new style bobbleheads
Some new statues that feature Walt Disney quotes on them
Painting continues on the Main Street U.S.A. building columns
They have dropped one of the circular registers in the emporium and extended the more conventional one at the north end of the store.
Some work going on inside the Confectionary
They were using the theater inside the Exposition Hall for a presentation regarding the additions to the Disney Vacation Club coming in 2009
The Family Fun Day Parade is now a thing of the past
They are now running a Sleeping Beauty pre-parade float before the Disney Dreams Come True Parade at the Magic Kingdom
Because Maleficent is in the pre-parade, she has been replaced with Judge Frollo
It wasn’t very crowded during the week
Woody’s Cowboy Camp has also went the way of Horizons
Some walls have popped up around the final turn of the Tomorrowland Speedway
In what is now a daily sight, Space Mountain was down with the house lights on
The 2008 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is now running through November 9th
The former Wonders of Life pavilion once again serves as the festival center
Seems they forgot to remove a piece of Garden Town
This time around, not much of the old signage was covered
Looks good in the front
Not-so-much in the back
They came up with a really good idea for those looking to not dig out their wallet at every food kiosk
These Disney gift cards can be filled with $5 or more and worn on the wrist for easy use at each food kiosk. They can also be refilled anywhere and work at all other locations like a normal Disney gift card
It couldn’t be an update without pictures of Bay Lake Tower construction
The observation deck
I hope you enjoyed my photo update and a special thank you to all of you who came to the World Wide Weekend
