Robert Ashburn’s 3/13/09 Magic Kingdom Photo Report
Our good friend Robert Ashburn of Figmentsmedia.net visited the Magic Kingdom on a less-than supernatural Friday the 13th and has a number of newsworthy photos to share with us:
Posters for Disney-Pixar’s “Up” and Disney Channel’s “Sonny with a Chance” at the Transportation and Ticket Center
Some exterior work on the Exposition Hall on Main Street U.S.A.
New flowers in bloom
New party hats in bloom
Strange parade in bloom
The Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party
The streamers are blasting high into the small trees in the hub
“Celebrate Trees!”
This requires managers with a large pole to rip the streamers from the trees around the hub area
New cups and containers featuring the Fab 5 party hats are now in use at Casey’s
The exterior work on the Hall of Presidents facade continues
The Heritage House is out from behind the tarps and looks beautiful
The rarely utilized Diamond Horseshoe in Frontierland is being refurbished
Tarps on one side of the building
They have re-decorated the box that plays music for guest entertainment as they wait for the parade
“Why did they add me to this parade?”
“Haha, You’re watching me instead of characters!”
The rock work in Tomorrowland is being freshened up, but is pink while it awaits a fresh coat of paint
It appears this speaker above the Tomorrowland Transit Authority was replaced. All of them should be replaced during an upcoming refurbishment
Construction of Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration continues
The restrooms between Auntie Gravity’s and Star Traders are open, but it has left the pavement needing repair
Back to Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration construction
The secondary building is coming along nicely as well
It appears this will be the control booth for the “living” Stitch on-screen
The Galaxy Palace Theater is gone, and a wall for character meet-and-greets is being prepared
The angled wall on the left is where characters will now enter the area
More pink rocks
Environmentally friendly merchandise in the Emporium
The “Celebrate Today!” banner was replaced with a banner featuring the word “Universal”. How dare they…
We conclude this report with a look at the two towers of Disney’s Contemporary Resort as Robert leaves the Magic Kingdom.
