DCA Preview Center Opening Pushed Back

According to MiceAge, the opening of the DCA Preview Center has been pushed back 1 month. There are a couple of factors as to why the date was pushed back. Firstly, Jay Rasulo should be announcing Magical Celebrations, the follow-up promotion to the Year of a Million Dreams on September 18th in New York. Secondly, the Miley Cyrus Sweet 16 event that is happening on October 5th. Basically, Disney don’t want the “DCA message” to be lost in-between these 2 events.

So if everything goes according to plan, Cast Member & Annual Passholder previews should be held around the second week of October, with a grand opening planned to happen on October 20th. The good news in this however, is that the exhibits, as well as the 7 minute video that will play on the screen that used to play the Seasons of the Vine movie are both ready. Marketing however isn’t…

September 27th Will Be Doomsday for Some Favorites

While it is already official that the 6 remaining Pleasure Island clubs, as well as the Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will be closing forever on September 27, that may not be the full list of Walt Disney World attractions and shows departing for yesterland on that day. Rumors are now circulating that two of the Magic Kingdom shows brought to the park for the Year of a Million Dreams celebration may be making their final performances on September 27, 2008. If the rumors we’re hearing are true, this fateful Saturday in September will also be your last chance to catch Woody’s Cowboy Camp and the Main Street Family Fun Day Parade. Be sure to stay tuned to WDW News Today as more information becomes available on these rumors.

For those of you also interested, during the very same weekend that these attractions are saying goodbye, the wonderful group over at WDWCelebrations will be putting on yet-another fantastic event titled “World Wide Weekend”. To get more information on this event and how you can be a part of It, head on over to WDWCelebrations.com. We hope to see you there!!!

After The Million Dreams….

WDW News Today has just been informed that after the conclusion of the long-running Year of a Million Dreams celebration in December 2008, Disney Parks will begin a new, smaller scale promotional program. The new promotion will be titled “Magical Celebrations” and is scheduled to begin in January 2009. The only part of the celebration that has been mentioned (still unofficial) thus far for the Walt Disney World Resort is the addition of Disneyland’s Parade of Dreams to the Magic Kingdom. No additional information is available at this time, but stay tuned to WDW News Today as more becomes available.

A New “Dream Prize”

We’re hearing that, like with the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage last year, exclusive first rides for Toy Story Mania will be given out as prizes in the Year of a Million Dreams.

Of course this is only a rumor, but seeing as it happened last year, it’s likely to happen again this year!

3 Years of 3 Million Dreams?

From the OC Register:

Some families changed their flights. One guest postponed a job interview. And others invited family and friends to gather on the balcony to watch Fantasmic.

As of last Friday, 17 parties had won overnight stays at the Disneyland Dream Suite, which opened Jan. 31, said Steve Arneson, manager of the Dream Squad at the Disneyland Resort, during sessions with reporters last week.

The suite gives winners, who are randomly selected at spots in Disney property, the chance to spend a night at a special apartment in Disneyland over the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

The suite only has enough room for six people to sleep there. But guests have invited up to 16 people to watch the Fantasmic! show from the balcony. Overnight guests get a two-hour tour after the park closes and receive a gift basket, including a crystal bowls engraved with their names and the dates of their stay.

Disney has committed to 266 nights, but may extend the contest another year.

More Disneyland Dreaming

The 3rd Dream Time event for the Disneyland Resort will be happening this Thursday, February 14th at Disneyland Park. For those of you who don’t know what this event is, well… It’s an after hour event that gets awarded to somewhere between 2,000 & 3,000 people. If you win, you’ll get to spend a whole hour in the designated park, after regular closing time, & the goal is to ride as many rides as possible, with little to no wait!

CMO For WDW

BY DONNA BALANCIA of FLORIDA TODAY

A national search for the first-ever Chief Magic Officer has drawn 1,300 video resumes from around the United States, a Walt Disney World spokesman said Monday. The search for the on-park, part-time promotions job will be narrowed to the top 10 video resumes, which will be up and available for viewing and voting on March 2 at www.dreamcmo.com.

The three applicants with the most hits by viewers of the Web site will be brought to Walt Disney World in mid-April to compete in a variety of “reality show-type” challenges. The competition will be podcast live and viewers again will pick their favorite applicant. The application process closed Jan. 27. Applicants sent videos in response to a national search from Disney Parks and CareerBuilder.com. It is a part-time, hourly position open from May 2008 to May 2009. The position is offered concurrently with the “Year Of A Million Dreams.”
