Remember… Magical Only Runs For 2 Months!

Seems like Disneyland’s new fireworks show Magical will only be running in the summer, with Remember Dreams Come True returning this fall. According to D23:

We already revealed some of the exciting details about Disneyland’s new fireworks show, Magical, last week, but there’s more to this display than meets the eye!

As with every Disney spectacular, Magical integrates new effects and technologies, including floodlights, customized “Magical” fireworks shells (that will burst both pink and blue — during a delightful “battle” between Sleeping Beauty’s Flora and Merryweather), and, for the first time ever, a flying Dumbo!

First off, Magical has an exclusive run: June 12 through August 23. Disneyland’s Remember… Dreams Come True returns for the fall, so you have a limited amount of time to see the magic of Magical.

Along with soaring vocals from Broadway star Eden Espinosa and a lush score from Greg Smith, Magical features beloved Disney songs including (take a deep breath!): “The Second Star to the Right,” “An Actor’s Life for Me,” “Give a Little Whistle,” “I’ve Got No Strings,” “It’s a Jolly Holiday,” “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” “Step in Time,” “Let’s Go Fly a Kite,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Baby Mine,” “So This Is Love,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Once Upon a Dream.”

Dumbo’s soaring techniques are similar to those of Tinker Bell’s (who will still, of course, appear in the show). “But it is a whole new type of technology,” explains Disneyland Entertainment Productions Senior Show Director John Addis. “[Designer] Michael Curry’s eyes got really wide when we went to him and said, ‘We want to do Dumbo on a wire.’ But he’s risen to the occasion. I was just up there Monday and he said it was he best puppet he’s ever done to reflect a character.”

No doubt, the experience will be… Magical.

Celebrate! Dreams Come True at Disneyland

Some exciting news for you Disneyland entertainment fans. Remember Dreams Come True, Disneyland’s fireworks spectacular will be permanently returning to Disneyland on Sunday, March 8th and will be showing for all of March, and we presume up through early November. As previously reported, parades will return to Disneyland in the form of the new “Celebrate! A Street Party” on Friday, March 27th (at least that’s the current date, subject to change as with anything).

Stay tuned to Disneyland News Today as I will be at the Resort for both the return of Remember Dreams Come True and the debut of “Celebrate! A Street Party”.

Mark Your Calenders!

It’s once again time to mark your calenders, as we have a few interesting additions to the attractions refurbishment list. First up, the Flik’s Flyers refurbishment that was originally scheduled from September 2nd to the 11th, has now been moved up to September 15th through to the 25th.

Looking at the Disneyland.com calender, it seems that the last day Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams is scheduled for is Tuesday November 11th. Remember Dreams Come True’s last performance this year will be on Sunday November 16th. Then after a week or so with no parade or fireworks, performances of both A Christmas Fantasy & Believe In Holiday Magic will start on Friday November 21st. Both Christmas offerings will stop performances on January 4th, 2009, & Parade of Dreams will return after the repaving of Main Street on February 13th. It is not yet known when in January Remember Dreams Come True will return.

Lastly, The Vineyard Room is listed as closed for refurbishment from September 29th all the way through the end of October. Perhaps it has another month left in it? We’ll have to wait & see when this Monday rolls around.

Stay tuned to Disneyland News Today for updates on all attraction refurbishments. And for up-to-the-minute information on the various refurbishments, be sure to check our Attraction Refurbishments page!

Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky

Now looking all the way ahead to July 4th… In previous years, Disneyland just did a little July 4th tag on the end of whatever fireworks show may be showing. Well it appears this year a full fledged 4th of July fireworks show will be shown instead of Remember Dreams Come True!

MiceAge DLR Rumor Update

The plans for the DCA renovations always keep changing, & the latest changes were reported today in Al Lutz’s latest column on MiceAge. We’ll also take a look at some other new stuff supposedly coming to Disneyland, & the resort as a whole:

  • The Walt Disney Story show that was supposed to of gone into the new Walt Disney Plaza has been dropped from the plans. Team Disney Anaheim’s idea behind this is that DCA already has too many shows, & too little good rides. So the last thing DCA needs is another new show! But the extravagant Carthay Circle Theater will still be built, but will only be a facade.
  • With the Walt Disney Story not happening, this now may have Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln being re-installed into the Opera House on Main Street.
  • When Sunshine Plaza is under refurbishment, the temporary entrance may now be the big gate right by Soarin’ Over California, instead of the Millionaire building. You can see exactly where this is by viewing this picture.
  • A water play area themed to King Triton is now planned to be put right next to the new Little Mermaid attraction.
  • The Ariels Grotto restaurant may be re-themed a general Princess restaurant, Princess Palace. The more modern sections of the current exterior of the restaurant would be made more “Princessy”.
  • Originally, the renovation plans for the Disneyland Hotel was to of had each building extensively refurbished, one at a time. Well now, TDA & WDI are looking to completely rip down the current Disneyland Hotel, & re-build it all from scratch!
  • This summer, a Indiana Jones stunt show should take place in Adventureland. We’re not sure if it will last past the summer though.
  • No new attractions are currently planned for the resort in 2009, except for the new It’s a Small World. So Disneyland Park will have a major entertainment themed ad campaign, which will include the proposed new Wonder day-time parade, a new ending to Remember… Dreams Come True, new effects added to Fantasmic, & get this… the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade!

For complete details on all of the things mentioned above & more, check out this MiceAge article!
