Liberty Square Bridge is Falling Down

As we reported a few weeks ago, the bridge that connects Liberty Square to Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom is in horrible shape. Because of this, the bridge will now have to be completely replaced and may seriously jeopardize the operation and means of operation of the many Magic Kingdom’s many parades at some point. The parade runs the opposite route of the now defunct Stars and Motorcars Parade, as it starts on Hollywood Blvd. and makes its way to the Star Tours area, making two lengthy stops along the way. Change of Plans and Parades

It appears that the final performance of the Stars and Motorcars Parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be Saturday March 8, 2008, not March 9th as originally reported. The reason for the change seems to be that the new Block Party Bash parade is ready ahead of schedule and will make it’s first “soft” performance at 3pm on Sunday March 9, 2008. WDW News Today will have coverage of both of these parades throughout the weekend into Monday, be sure to stay tuned for more details on these two major events.

New Parade Coming to The Magic Kingdom

A very reliable source has just informed me that Walt Disney World management has purchased the Parade of Dreams from the Disneyland Resort in California. The parade will make it’s final west coast performance in November 2008 and will debut at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in January 2009. While this is still not 100% confirmed at the moment, the announcement should come towards the end of 2008 and the Year of a Million Dreams celebration.

Studio Rumors

There are some interesting rumors going around the net today and I just wanted to take time to address some of them. The big one floating around right now is the refurbishment of the Star Tours attraction. Yes, it is true, but i have heard others say it would be opening next year. The earliest time a new Star Tours would be opening is Spring/Summer 2009, it will not open anytime before that, but it will happen.

Another big rumor has been the Block Party Bash coming to the Disney MGM Studios in the spring of 2008, which is also true.

Then there is the biggest and most rediculous of them all, the talk that Playhouse Disney would be moving to a tent in the parking lot behind Rock N Roller Coaster. I have heard some crazy rumors in my time, but this one takes the cake. The show will be refurbished sometime this winter, but it most certainly isn’t moving anywhere.
