Shawn Hutchinson’s 3/6/09 Photo Report
Shawn Hutchinson is currently on a 3 day excursion to the Disneyland Resort for his birthday, and he reports back to us with photos from yesterday:
As it was Shawn’s birthday, he got a birthday fun card!
The breakfast of champions, Mickey Mouse Waffles!
One of the stores on Main Street is currently having some work done to its facade.
The majestic Matterhorn Mountain.
One of my favorite scenes in Storybook Land, Prince Eric’s ship from The Little Mermaid.
Work still going on at Big Thunder Trail.
The Habour Galley is still closed.
Brer Fox, Brer Bear, and Brer Rabbit watching over the Splash Mountain queue.
Shawn took a few great pictures of Tarzan’s Treehouse that I wanted to include here.
Look familiar?
The “Celebrate Today!” display in the Emporium.
It’s nice that we can still see characters interacting with some of Disneyland’s bands.
Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years closes March 15th.
Stay tuned for a complete tour of this soon to be extinct attraction in my photo report later this weekend.
New pavement on Main Street.
Moving over to DCA… You can now find this fun map from the Blue Sky Cellar along some of the construction walls in Paradise Pier.
The inaccurate map to today’s DCA displays a “You Are Here” message.
World of Color construction walls.
Work is due to start on the Silly Symphony Swings at the end of August.
Painting of the Games of the Boardwalk has begun. There’s a lot more substantial work that I will show you in my photo report later this weekend.
No real obvious progress yet to Mickey’s Fun Wheel.
King Triton’s Carousel closes to have its work done on March 9th.
A look at the World of Color work.
Some sort of structure is beginning to rise in the lagoon.
The Disney Vacation Club villas at the Grand Californian Hotel open later this year.
A lot of people don’t miss Paradise Pier however. That’s the problem Disney is trying to fix.
The lenticular panel showing the Finding Nemo scene in World of Color.
Just put up this week is another lenticular panel, this time depicting the Pocahontas scene in World of Color. There are also new signs explaining the work going on in the lagoon to uninformed guests.
Personally, I “Celebrate News Today!” at the Disneyland Resort.
Thanks for your photo report Shawn! We look forward to your photos from today and tomorrow!
